CONNECT SCHEDULE for the Holidays!!

What fun we have had talking about relationships. The chili cookoff was a blast. To be honest everyone was a winner. Wow, that sounds politically correct. People love bacon and chili, so when the two were combined it was fantastic. To be fair, if the desert chili was considered in the voting we may have had a tie.

Ok. For the Holidays we are not meeting every week for various reasons so here's the schedule through New years.

Nov. 26 - NO CONNECT (Thanksgiving)
Dec. 03 - CONNECT @ Thony's
Dec. 10 - CONNECT - UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY
Dec. 17 - HOLLYBROOK Christmas Party 6p-8p
Dec. 24 - NO CONNECT (Christmas Eve Service)
Dec. 31 - NO CONNECT (New Years Parties !!!)
Jan. 07 - CONNECT (Back to normal Schedule)

Please give me and Beth feed back on the Ugly Christmas sweater party dates. Also for those of you going to Passion the balance of your money will be due. By the middle of December.

MARRIAGE - Why Didn't Someone Tell Me??

We talked about rejection last week and walked away with these simple truths.

God is sovereign - He's in control of my life (including injustices done to me and my own failures). Clinging to this truth brings life!

God sees. The first woman to deal with romantic rejection in the bible referred to Him as the "God who sees".

God is often protecting me. I may only see rejection and miss His providential protection. Pure poetry right there.

No one was more rejected than Jesus. He not only sees my pain, but has felt it even more.

Asking God to search my heart is good. Inviting Him to reveal my sin in relationships is necessary.

Community! Seeking counsel from friends, mentors who love Jesus can be incredibly helpful. Listen to these wise people, weigh what they say.

And now this week.....
10 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Got Married!
Can anyone guess what they might be? We are wrapping up this series on relationships this week by answering these questions and allowing some time at the end for some Q &A.

It's Not Me It's You

This week we are discussing break ups and singleness. Is there a biblical way to break up? How do we deal with pain and rejection? Is it possible to be single and satisfied? Is it ok if you're not happy about being single??

Thanks to all who have contributed food from week to week. It is a huge help to us. Come, bring your bibles, eat, sing, and learn how to break up with people like Jesus would......or something like that.

TRAVELING LIGHT?

Last week was a great discussion. How we act in relationships is who we will be in marriage. Are we indecisive? Are we selfish? Are we insecure? Are we controlling? Are we lazy? Are we pursuing Jesus? The bible doesn't say anything about how to date, but it says tons about who we are to become in Christ and what kind of husbands and wives we should be. Good stuff!!

This week we will hopefully unload some baggage. We all bring things to a relationship. Some small, some big. How do we deal with baggage we bring? Is our baggage something we accept as who we are, or is it something we deal with before we pursue a relationship?

Caught One

To answer the question from last week..."when in hot pursuit, where's Jesus?" the answer is that hopefully He's the one in front of you. That's right. So, you're chasing Jesus, not people. It's so much better when you're not looking for the person you're looking for. Oh, you know what I mean. They're next to you..... or who cares exactly where (ahead, behind a bit). But, you're in a long line of people chasing God.

So, what do you do when you actually reel one in? This week we'll cover God's dating rules. You didn't know He had any? Well, we found some. That's right, a young shepherd boy found some ancient scrolls entitled "Rules of Dating" or something, in a cave recently, and you will be the first group to hear them!!! We have some amazing connections at River City Church.

Come join us.
